LightWave Solar is proud to serve the Knoxville, TN area and the surrounding regions.
If you are looking for residential, commercial, or municipal solar design consultation and installation, then we would love to partner with you. In our modern day world, solar power has become increasingly available and affordable. Currently, there are many benefits to going solar, whether it is for your home or business.
Residential Benefits include:
A 30% federal tax credit for systems installed before the end of 2019. This credit is equal to 30% of the total cost of the system, and gets applied against your income tax liability for the year the system is installed, or it can also be claimed for the previous tax year, or carried forward.
As part of the Green Power Providers program provided by TVA for grid-tied solar systems, TVA buys 100% of your solar generation at the escalating retail rate. As rates increase, so do your solar payments. Credits then roll over month to month, and if there is an accumulation of unused credit, your local utility place will send you a check after 12 months.
On top of these benefits, going solar increases the value of your property and helps in differentiating your home from others on the market. Clearly, going solar can be a great investment for homeowners.
How do businesses benefit?
At LightWave Solar, we are committed to helping you determine if solar is a valuable investment for your business. Many business owners invest in solar systems because of the financial return, and because they feel it is the right thing to do as an ethical company. We will help walk you through how the tax and utility incentives work, as well as discuss the financing option that allows your business to be cash flow positive in less than two years. Many of our business owner clients have seen a one year payback on their systems.
What about Nonprofit organizations?
Nonprofit organizations are making the world a brighter place, and can make it even brighter by choosing to go solar. Nonprofits can get their own solar system for long-term energy savings or use the support of sponsors or investors who will be able to claim the federal tax incentives for solar systems. A way this can be done is by having the investor lease a nonprofit’s rooftop or property, own the system for a period of time, and ultimately earn most or all of the revenue generated during that time. Then, the nonprofit can either buy the system or the investor can donate it. Whether the nonprofit organization owns the system or simply provides a rooftop, going solar can provide educational and awareness opportunities for the nonprofit.
Can government buildings reap solar benefits too?
Many local, state and federal governments are in a great place to take advantage of solar energy systems because of the unique combination of building ownership, long-term financial outlook, and superior credit ratings. A rising number of government agencies are changing over to solar to help against rising energy rates, because of the unique ability of solar systems to provide predictable energy savings for decades.
So you’re interested in going solar. What’s next?
To begin, contact us to get your free preliminary estimate which will show five core pieces of your system’s information: project size, system output, project cost, incentives overview, and site drawing. We will also review your financing options. If the preliminary estimate works for you, we will schedule and make a site visit to confirm any measurements. Once this data has been verified, we will create a proposal with the specific system output, existing warranties, incentives, and firm contract price. Once the contract is signed, and the first deposit for permitting and equipment is provided, our in-house design team will submit the TVA paperwork, obtain the necessary permits, and design the most efficient solar system for your place. Then our project management team will reach out to you to schedule a time frame to build and install your solar system, meticulously coordinating all of the necessary inspections and commissioning.
