Business owner says he’s pleased with his solar system, one year later

Published September 2, 2015

We recently chatted with Charlie Gardner, owner of Rockstar Motorcars in Nashville, Tennessee. One year ago, Gardner added a 46kW solar system to his luxury & sports car showroom.

LWS: One year later, are you pleased with your decision to install solar?
CG: Absolutely! The system reduces our annual electric costs by about 60%.

LWS: Do your customers know you generate solar energy? How do you think solar sets your car showroom apart from competitors?
CG: We advertise on our home page about our solar installation and our switch over to rain harvesting for our detail department. We hope that by doing our part to lower our carbon footprint, which is large, and advertising it, perhaps it will have an influence on others considering the same. It also demonstrates our commitment to our integrity and doing all we can for the environment.

LWS: What would you tell other business owners who are thinking about investing in solar?
CG: Do it, with the tax incentives it just makes sense!

Rockstar Motorcars Solar
One year ago we energized 184 solar panels at Rockstar Motorcars.

Do you want to claim the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for solar on your 2015 taxes? If so, time is of the essence since the IRS requires solar equipment to be energized in the same tax year.  That means your commercial solar system must be fully operational and commissioned by the local utility by December 31, 2015.

Our 2015 installation schedule is filling up quickly. If you would like to get your project completed this year to claim the 30% tax credit for 2015, we will help you meet the year-end deadline. Sign by September 15 to reserve a spot on our 2015 installation calendar. After Sept. 15 we will be less likely to accommodate additional 2015 projects

Please let us know if you would like to get your project installed this year, and we will provide a preliminary estimate to get the process underway.

500 solar installations and counting…
