The Nashville Fire Department will hold a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday for the new Fire Station 3, 850 Meridian at Cleveland Street in East Nashville.

Mayor Karl Dean and Nashville Fire Department Interim Director Billy Lynch will be among those on hand for the ceremony commemorating the newly completed replacement fire hall, which will house Engine 3 and Ladder 3.

The new building was built on the same property that housed the old station, which was torn down due to age.

It is nearly identical to the new Madison Station 31, which opened in September.

The project cost $3.8 million and was overseen by Metro General Services. Officials plan to apply for LEED™ Silver certification at Station 3, which includes solar roof panels and an electric vehicle charging station.

During the construction, Engine 3 was relocated to 5th and Fatherland and Ladder 3 was relocated to Station 39 on South Dickerson Road.
