Solar Tours – Sat, Oct 8 2011

LightWave Solar will host the Middle TN Solar Tour and the Johnson City Solar Tour as part of the American Solar Energy Society's National Tour.  The tours are free and feature local solar-powered homes, businesses and one non-profit.  If you are in the Tri-Cities area, see the article below for Johnson City tour info.

The Middle TN Solar Tour will take place on Saturday, Oct 8 from 10am to 2pm. It's a great opportunity to talk with system owners and solar experts and see the equipment up-close.  The tour is self-guided, so you can visit any of the systems listed below between 10am and 2pm. Johnson Residence Gangwisch Residence in Brentwood

Home belongs to Steve Johnson, owner of LightWave Solar.  His residence features a 7 kW PV solar system on a passive solar & NES Energy Saver home with a geothermal heating and cooling system. Tour also includes the all electric Nissan LEAF, solar powered golf cart, solar water pump, solar attic fans & small off-grid system on barn.

Gangwisch Residence

Home has the largest residential solar PV system in Middle TN at 19 kW.  Home has HERS energy efficiency rating of 42 and includes a solar thermal system.

Home has 4.7 kW solar PV system consisting of three separate sub-arrays using Solar Edge Module Maximizer.  Installed by Sundog Solar.

Arts Center of Cannon CountyGroWild has a very unique 26 kW pole-mounted solar PV system in picturesque countryside.  System consists of 108 solar panels on nine poles.

In 2006 SDR was the first business in Nashville to receive a state grant for solar.  Their solar PV system is 12 kW and consists of Sharp solar panels manufactured here in Tennessee.

 H&H Design/Long Hollow Suri Alpacas

H&H Design has a 35 kW solar array atop their beautiful red roofed barn.  The system consists of 144 solar panels and four inverters. Bonus: The alpaca herd will eagerly greet tour attendees!
Arts Center of Cannon County

The Arts Center's solar installation was awarded the 2011 TN Governor's Energy Leadership Environmental Award. The project includes a 29 kW system, a time lapse video of the installation, and real time energy production display in the lobby. Presentations will begin at 10:15, 11:15, and 12:15. Optional – Attendees of the presentations will be provided with directions to a 3kW pole mount residential system located 5 miles away.
