Press Release: LightWave Solar Installs Tullahoma’s First Grid-tied Solar System

TULLAHOMA - The first solar electric system connected to the Tullahoma Utilities Board is generating clean power – and revenue – for The Bailey Company, one of the nation’s largest forklift truck dealers. Tennessee’s leading installer, LightWave Solar, commissioned the system last September atop The Bailey Company’s facility on Johnston Street.<br/ >The 26 kilowatt (kW) solar system consists of 104 solar panels and has generated about 8,500 kilowatt-hours so far, amounting to $1,150 of revenue since September. Over the next 20 years, the system is expected to generate more than $109,000 –about $5,500 annually. With this latest installation in Tullahoma, The Bailey Company now has six solar systems totaling 261 kW at their forklift dealerships across Tennessee.“We first added solar to our Nashville facility in 2011 primarily for environmental reasons since we’re focused on making the Bailey Company as environmentally sustainable as possible,” explains Ryan Bailey, Director of Sustainability. “We were impressed with the financial return, so we decided to invest in more systems,” he adds.
