A 26-kilowatt solar electric system installed atop The Bailey Company forklift dealership in the Tullahoma Industrial Park is the first of its kind to be added to the Tullahoma Utilities Board (TUB) power grid.

“We’re committed to reducing our company’s environmental impact and thrilled to have the first solar system connected to the Tullahoma Utilities Board grid,” said Ryan Bailey, the company’s director of sustainability.

Installed in September, the system at the company’s Johnston St. facility consists of 104 solar panels and has generated about 8,500 kilowatt-hours so far, amounting to $1,150 in revenue.

With the local installation, The Bailey Company now has six solar electric systems operating at their forklift dealerships across the state.
