LightWave Installs Solar on Crossville Truck Stop

Mid-State Gas Station Goes Green Posted: Mar 22, 2011 5:39 PM CDT Tuesday, March 22, 2011 6:39 PM EST   CROSSVILLE, Tenn.- It's the last place you'd expect to be jumping on the eco-friendly bandwagon, but a mid-state gas station is taking some big energy friendly steps to be the only truck stop of its kind in the country. While truck drivers have filled up at the pump countless times, hardly ever have they looked up and seen crews working on a solar panel array.  But that was the case at the Eco Travel Plaza in Crossville on Tuesday.  Each day, the store's name becomes more and more appropriate.

Fairview's GroWild Grows a Little Greener with Grants Feb. 9, 2011 Written by Deb Fehr for The Fairview Observer GroWild, Inc in Fairview relies on the sun to help keep its native plant nursery flourishing and now the sun is helping the business flourish in other ways as well. A new solar panel system was recently installed at GroWild - and GroWild’s Terri Barnes explained why this is a big deal. “The nursery business is dependent on so many products that require the use of fossil fuel such as soil and pots as well as energy to heat and cool our greenhouse and run irrigation systems,” Barnes said. “Any opportunity we have to reduce our carbon footprint is important to us all, especially in the nursery industry.” Barnes and partner Mike Berkley took advantage of multiple grant incentives to help move the process forward.
